Detox Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 13, 2026

Detox is a Photo Library review and cleanup app by Lutjen Lee. This policy explains what information Detox accesses, why it is used, where it is stored, and the choices available to you. Detox is designed to perform its core work on your device.

Scope

This policy applies to the Detox iOS app. It does not govern Apple's Photos, iCloud, App Store, device backup, or other services, which are controlled by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy policy.

Photo Library Access

Detox requests read and write access to your Photo Library so it can display photos and videos, group them by month and album, let you review them, estimate the storage used by selected items, and submit deletion requests for items you choose.

Depending on the permission you grant, Detox may access your full Photo Library or only the items you allow through Apple's limited-access controls. Detox respects the permission status managed by iOS and does not attempt to bypass it.

Photo and video information used by Detox can include the media itself and Photo Library information supplied by Apple, such as local identifiers, media type, creation date, album membership, and asset resources. This information is used only to provide the app's review and cleanup features.

On-Device Processing and Data Collection

Detox processes your Photo Library through Apple's PhotoKit framework on your device. Detox does not upload your photos, videos, Photo Library metadata, or review decisions to servers controlled by Lutjen Lee.

The current version of Detox does not require an account and does not include third-party analytics, advertising networks, tracking technology, or a developer-operated cloud service. Detox does not create a developer-controlled online database of your Photo Library.

iCloud Photos and Network Access

If an item is stored in iCloud rather than fully available on your device, Detox allows Apple's PhotoKit framework to retrieve the item or related resource so it can be displayed, played, or measured. That network activity is performed through Apple's Photos and iCloud services, not a Detox server.

Apple's handling of Photo Library, iCloud, App Store, analytics, crash, and device information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and your Apple Account and device settings.

Information Stored Locally by Detox

Detox stores a limited amount of app data on your device so it can remember your choices and progress. This may include:

This information is stored in the app's private container using Apple's local preferences system. It is not sent to Lutjen Lee. Local app data may be included in device backups or restored by Apple, depending on your iOS and iCloud backup settings.

Photo and Video Deletion

Detox does not silently delete media. When you choose items for deletion, Detox shows an in-app confirmation and then asks Apple Photos to perform the change. Apple presents its own system confirmation before the request is completed.

Items accepted for deletion are managed by Apple Photos and may remain in the Recently Deleted album before permanent deletion and storage recovery. If you use iCloud Photos, a deletion may synchronize across devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Recovery, retention, and permanent deletion within Recently Deleted are controlled by Apple Photos.

Resetting review history in Detox only clears the app's local record of reviewed items. It does not delete, restore, or otherwise modify media in Apple Photos.

Retention and Removal

Detox's local preferences and review history remain on your device until you reset applicable data in the app, remove the app, or iOS otherwise clears or restores the app's data. Removing Detox removes its local app container, subject to Apple's backup and restore behavior. Removing Detox does not delete photos or videos from Apple Photos.

Because Detox does not upload your Photo Library or app progress to a developer-operated service, Lutjen Lee does not hold a server-side copy of that information to retrieve or delete.

Sharing, Sale, Advertising, and Tracking

Detox does not sell your personal information. It does not share your Photo Library or app activity with advertisers or data brokers, does not display third-party advertising, and does not track you across apps or websites.

Detox does not automatically disclose your Photo Library or review history to Lutjen Lee or other third parties. Apple may process information as necessary to provide PhotoKit, iCloud Photos, the App Store, device backup, security, and other platform services.

Your Choices and Controls

You decide whether to give Detox full, limited, or no Photo Library access. You can review or change access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Detox, or through the Photos settings shortcut inside Detox.

If you deny or revoke access, Detox cannot display and organize the affected Photo Library items or request their deletion. You can also reset review history in Detox without changing anything in Apple Photos, and you can remove the app to remove its local app data, subject to Apple's backup and restore behavior.

Support Communications

If you contact Lutjen Lee by email, your email address, message, and any information you choose to include will be received and used to respond to your request, maintain necessary support records, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. Do not send photos, videos, or other sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request.

Security

Detox relies on iOS app sandboxing, Photo Library permissions, and Apple system confirmation to limit access and protect changes. No method of electronic storage or device operation is completely secure, so you should keep your device, Apple Account, and operating system protected and up to date.

Children

Detox is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not operate a user account or developer-controlled data service, it does not ask users to submit a name, age, email address, or profile.

Privacy Rights

Privacy laws may provide rights relating to personal information, such as access, correction, deletion, or objection. Detox's Photo Library processing and app progress remain on your device, where you control them through Detox, Apple Photos, and iOS Settings. If you contact Lutjen Lee for support and want to ask about information contained in that correspondence, use the contact details below.

Changes

This policy may be updated if Detox changes how it handles information or if legal or platform requirements change. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or through the App Store when appropriate.
